I do so love how Barbara Michaels' paranormal stuff always takes into account the idea that this could potentially be scientific in nature. Her characters are never stupid about the paranormal--they are aware they could be crazy and they do their absolute best to try to rule out other likely possibilities before surrendering to the inevitable. Of course, it means the traditional "freaking out immediately" aspect of other paranormal romances often drive me nuts.
